Newborn Safety First

I am a huge advocate in Newborn and Baby Safety

My baby photography journey began back in 1999, which was prompted by a scary incident involving my four-month-old daughter falling off a studio table at a chain portrait studio. Ever since that day, ensuring baby safety has been my top priority. As I photographed the moments of my own babies and the children in our family, my love for photography grew abundantly.

Family Photography became more than just a hobby; it became a passion. I enjoyed being able to look back when my children were little and relive those moments. I, then, dedicated myself to photography courses at a local art school, refining my skills, exploring various techniques and styles along. I still take photography courses every year to keep up to date on new techniques and skills.

Being mother to 5 children has taught me patience and how to love each child differently. This has also taught me that kids (and sometimes husbands) prefer not to have long photoshoots, so I work efficiently but quickly when needed.

I want to be able to give you the same lasting memories for your family that I have been able to enjoy for myself.

When should I schedule a Newborn Photoshoot?

Newborn photo sessions are typically scheduled within the first two weeks after birth when babies are still very sleepy and easily posed. It's best to contact us during your pregnancy to book a photoshoot and discuss the best timing. The baby portrait session should be scheduled to take place around the pregnant mother's due date. This date can be moved, however, if the baby is born early or late.

When should I have my newborn's photos taken?

Newborn photos are typically scheduled within the first two weeks after birth when babies are still very sleepy and easily posed. Of course some babies are more settled than others so we aim to keep your baby as comfortable as possible so that we can get the pictures that you are sure to love.

Is 6 weeks too old for newborn pictures?

While it is ideal to have your baby's photoshoot done in the first 2 weeks of being born, we understand that there is a lot of life and family adjusting that happens during that time. I have experience taking photos of older newborns up to 6-8 weeks and can provide you with beautiful pictures of you new baby. Keep in mind, however, that your newborn baby may be a bit more awake during this later newborn pictures.

How long does a newborn baby photo session last?

Newborn photoshoots can last anywhere from 2 to 4 hours, allowing enough time for feeding, soothing, and capturing a variety of poses and setups. These sessions require patience as babies can be unpredictable and may need breaks for diaper changes, feeding, or settling. I will work at the baby's pace to ensure a relaxed and stress-free environment.

Are family members allowed to be in newborn photos?

Yes, family members are often encouraged to be a part of newborn portrait sessions. Including parents and siblings in the photos can create heartwarming and meaningful family portraits that capture the joy and love surrounding the new baby in the family.

What should I bring for the newborn photo shoot?

A good list of things to bring to your baby's outing is several diapers, wipes, pacifier, burp cloth and bottles with plenty of extra formula or breast milk.

What should my baby wear for these newborn pictures?

Unless there is a special or sentimental outfit that you really love, leave the outfits to me. I have plenty of outfits and wraps to choose from to fit your style and color scheme. Your baby can wear something comfortable and easy to get off and back on when the session is over.

What if my baby is fussy for the portrait ssession?

First, we try everything we can to make sure your baby is warm, fed, dry and comfortable. Pacifiers can also be helpful if your baby uses one. Sometimes they are gassy and just need to burp. Another thing that I like to do is take the pictures of the parents holding the baby. A baby feels most comfortable being held by his mom or dad.  If we have tried everything we can and your baby still isn't wanting to settle then we can talk about a reschedule for another day when your baby is feeling better. My newborn photo sessions are baby led. We will continue a photo shoot as long as your baby is willing.

How much does a newborn photo shoot cost?

My portrait sessions are custom and I offer a few package collections to fit different budgets. I would love to talk to you about your specific needs on a consultation call.

How do I book a newborn photo session?

Scheduling is as easy as a phone call away! I would love to talk to you about your newborn photos. Please call me at 727-267-1912.
